Introducing The Crossover….
We have been asked for about 3 years now for a needle lure but I didn’t want to go down the route of copying the needles already on the market so I’d put it on the back burner until I could think of something different to do with them. There’s isn’t much innovation you can do to a lure people already want but the joys of being the small guy means we can put our own twist into something and then make it better in our eyes.
On this lure we started with the body of our slapper without the paddle and smoothed out the bumps to closer replicate a squid. This is where I stopped and looked at the design and realised it didn’t need any more designing (I had planned to curve bits a bit more and thicken the lure out for more weight) Sometimes the simple changes can be enough, I realised it was nearly a combo of 2 fantastic lures already on the market. We got rid of the hook slots and that’s were we ended up at The Crossover.
All of us know the most popular soft needle for bass fishing is the albie snax which have become very hard to get in the UK and Ireland over the past few years, combine that with the flat sided Xlayer which can be rigged both ways up and you have The Crossover.
The dual colours in The Crossover are shot with the Flat section being the belly so you have a lure that has a slower fall in the water to enable it to fish the shallowest of marks. Flip it around with the flat at the top and you’ll have the curvature of the needle to have a more wobbly action on the drop in deeper waters 😁😁
We have 2 sizes launching in these from the off with a 4.5inch 8.7g version and a 6inch 12.7g version in 5 colours to start with:
Pure White
Pearl White
Bubblegum Pink
Lemonback
Green Blue Colourshift
